THIS IS AN ADVANCED COURSE

Introduction

This course is designed to equip design teams with a working knowledge of the five walls of the FBC.
Learn the prescriptive differences between wall ratings (fire-resistance), opening protective
ratings (fire protection), and how each perform in passive redundant systems.

Description

Better understand the specific use of each wall, its opening protectives, and applications within the framework of code compliance. Test criteria for fire resistance and opening protection will be illustrated and fully explained as applied to current code requirements.

Objective

• Know the difference between a fire-resistance rating and a fire-protection rating
• Explore the test provisions for wide-span opening protectives
• Investigate the reasoning behind the opening protective requirements for all five walls
• Develop a solid familiarity with where to apply each of the five walls in project designs
