THIS IS AN ADVANCED COURSE
Introduction
Today’s mixed-use buildings require the application of various codes, particularly regarding accessibility. This course examines the differences between Fair Housing regulations and the stricter Florida Building Code Accessibility (FBCA), focusing on when each applies or when both are required.
Description
We will explore differences between useable and accessible elements, common non-compliances, and specific requirements in the FHAA, ADA, and FBCA. This advanced course provides in-depth guidance for architects, highlighting less-known elements and offering practical solutions for ensuring compliance.
Objective
This course is intended to help participants clearly understand the nuances of compliance with the requirements of the Fair Housing Act Amendments and the Florida Building Code – Accessibility and the common reasons for non-compliance with those requirements. Upon completion of the course, participants will understand the impact of day-to-day construction practices that affect compliance and be able to develop techniques for addressing those concerns through clearer and more detailed documentation and field observation.
