John Barie, AIA

A civic leader whose pro bono service has significantly shaped historic preservation and land-use policy in Pinellas County and St. Petersburg.

As an original member of the Pinellas County Historic Preservation Board, John spent ten years providing architectural expertise, developing policy, organizing public education summits and ultimately serving as Vice Chair. In St. Petersburg, he contributed to major updates of the city's Land Development Regulations as an architectural advisor on the Neighborhood Review Committee and later served as a commissioner on the Development Review Commission during a period of rapid growth. John has used his design knowledge, communication skills and leadership to strengthen community decision-making and ensure thoughtful stewardship of the built environment.
Michael Byrd, AIA
AIA Jacksonville
A lifelong public servant whose four decades of volunteer leadership have strengthened building safety, professional development and community wellbeing across Florida.

Beginning as a student member on a national AIA committee, Michael helped create the Intern Development Program, now a foundational pathway to licensure. He went on to serve in multiple civic roles, including the St. Johns County Vocational School Board, the TPC Sawgrass Architectural Review Board and the City of Jacksonville's Building Code Adjustment Board, where he spent 14 years reviewing code issues affecting public safety.
Byrd later served as Assistant and Chief Building Official for Jacksonville and as Chief Building Official for Duval County Public Schools. As a founding member of Faithworks Alliance, he supports faith-based educational initiatives for disadvantaged individuals, veterans, first responders and their families. Through every role, Byrd has contributed his architectural expertise to elevate public safety, expand opportunity and enrich the communities he serves.
Catherine Duncan, AIA

A dedicated community advocate whose service spans historic preservation, women's support organizations, youth mentorship and global development.

For more than a decade, Catherine “Cathy” Duncan has played a key role in protecting the architectural heritage of St. Augustine and Jacksonville through her work on the Historic Architectural Review Board and the Springfield Historic District Design Review Committee.
Cathy has also lent her expertise to nonprofits such as the Women's Center of Jacksonville, the Betty Griffin Center and the ROWITA Awards, supporting women, families and the arts. Earlier in her career, she served in the Peace Corps in Senegal, contributing to rural development and community empowerment. Across her volunteer efforts, Cathy brings professionalism, passion and a deep commitment to strengthening the communities she serves.
Keith Greminger, AIA

A long-serving community leader whose work has shaped Tampa's public realm, cultural life and historic preservation efforts for more than three decades.

As Board Chair of the Tampa Downtown Partnership, Keith helped champion placemaking and public-space improvements that strengthened the city's urban core. His leadership with the American Victory Ship and Friends of the Riverwalk brought public engagement, major events and capital improvements to two of Tampa's signature civic assets. Keith also co-founded the Tampa Dragon Boat Races, transforming the waterfront into a vibrant community venue while supporting charitable causes.
His service extends to youth sports through two decades of Bayshore Little League coaching and board participation, as well as to preservation through his role on the Hillsborough County Historic Preservation Grant Board, where he helped direct funding to protect culturally significant structures. In all his roles, Keith has combined design insight with civic commitment to advance community vitality, heritage and engagement throughout Tampa Bay.

As a member of the Palm Beach County Land Development Regulation Advisory Board, Lucille helped guide updates to the County's Unified Land Development Code, offering architectural and urban design insight to support responsible growth, environmental stewardship and community character.
Through Impact 100 Palm Beach County, she serves on the Board of Directors and founded both the NextGen initiative and the Social Media Committee, expanding outreach and engaging women across generations in collective philanthropic giving. Her involvement with the Junior League of Boca Raton includes work on the Public Affairs and Training Committees, where she supports advocacy efforts and leadership programming for women.
As a mentor with the Eda & Cliff Viner Community Scholars Foundation, she provides long-term academic and professional guidance to a college architecture student. Lucille applies her expertise in design, communication and leadership to strengthen civic institutions and empower individuals throughout her community.

Tim has served as chairman of School Advisory Councils for both Mid Florida Technical School and Arbor Ridge School, helping shape policy, guide improvement plans and support the effective use of school resources. As a member of the Board of Directors for Lake Eola Charter School, he worked closely with school leadership to strengthen programs and operations. Through Project Success with the 100 Black Men of Greater Orlando, he further expanded his impact by supporting scholarships, mentorship and college-readiness initiatives for high school and college students. Tim has dedicated his expertise and leadership to empowering young people and improving educational opportunities within his community.

Robert has contributed to shaping public-space and transportation policy as a member of the Miami-Dade Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee and chaired the Buena Vista East Design Advisory Committee, guiding development near the historic district.
Robert has long supported educational initiatives, including founding one of Brooklyn's early charter schools and serving in leadership roles at Treasure Village Montessori. He has also engaged in environmental and resilience efforts through Opportunity Miami's Risk + Resilience Tech Hub and the Citizens' Climate Lobby. As team captain for the Dolphins Cancer Challenge, he leads fundraising efforts benefiting the University of Miami's Sylvester Cancer Center. Robert brings design insight, advocacy and community-driven problem-solving to advance healthier, safer and more resilient communities.

Jeff Lane, AIA — AIA Jacksonville. Jeff is deeply involved in the Jacksonville community. He served on the board of Pine Castle from April 2005 to December 2010, a nonprofit providing services to adults with intellectual and developmental differences. He also volunteers with the Lunch Buddy program at West Riverside Elementary, where he mentors underserved children.
Carrie Manes, AIA — AIA Orlando. Carrie has served The Milk District Main Street program, contributing to placemaking projects and bringing together design professionals and community members through annual Design Charrettes.
Ana Rabelo Wallrapp, AIA — AIA Tampa Bay. Ana's nonprofit service includes the Ronald McDonald House and All Children's Hospital. Her work helps support families during lengthy hospital stays and benefits children through fundraising, equipment and mentoring.
2023 Citizen Architect Class
Jaime Canaves, FAIA — AIA Miami. Canaves was appointed U.S. ambassador to the XIII Bienal de Arquitectura de Quito, Ecuador, and has volunteered extensively with Casa Valentina, an organization helping former foster youth gain self-sufficiency.
Juan Contin, AIA — AIA Palm Beach. Contin has chaired the Lake Worth Beach Historic Preservation Board and Planning and Zoning Board. He also mentors high school students and serves as an adjunct professor.
Clarisse Gates, AIA — AIA Orlando. Gates serves on the City of Orlando Appearance Review Board, chairs the College Park Main Street design committee and has served as co-chair of Commercial Real Estate Women.
Elizabeth Fleischhauer, AIA — AIA Florida Northwest. Fleischhauer has served on the City of Pensacola Gateway Review Board and volunteered with IMPACT100 Pensacola Bay Area and Reclaim Our Vote.
Adam Gayle, AIA — AIA Gainesville. Gayle has mentored and spoken at the University of Florida, participated in Ask an Architect, volunteered with Rebuilding Together and supported Habitat for Humanity.
Jerel McCants, AIA — AIA Tampa Bay. McCants has served as an ACE Mentorship Program mentor, vice president of Friends of Tampa Union Station and a member of the Hillsborough County Affordable Housing Committee.
Jonathan Moore, AIA — AIA Tampa Bay. Moore has served as president of the Rotary Club of Tampa, as a Habitat for Humanity Tampa board member and as a volunteer teacher and youth leader.
Dr. Ty Patak, AIA — AIA Florida Southwest. Patak has served in numerous education and community leadership roles, including school advisory committees, the Florida Design Out Crime Association and the Charlotte County Local Education Foundation.

Craig Aquart, AIA — AIA Miami. Craig has served as a Sunday school teacher and youth minister, provided service to his homeowners association and introduced students to architecture through the Miami-Dade County Public Schools STEM Advisory Board.
Danilo Guiso, AIA — AIA Fort Lauderdale. Danilo has served on the City of Coconut Creek Planning and Zoning Board and helped students discover careers in architecture, construction and engineering through the Broward County ACE Mentor Group.
Peter Hauerstein, AIA — AIA Tampa Bay. Peter has served as moderator for the Hillsborough County Community Sustainability Action Plan and provided pro bono advisory work to the City of Tampa Replacement Home Project.
Rodney Lewis, AIA — AIA TALLAHASSEE. Rodney has served on the Big Bend Habitat for Humanity board and the TALLAHASSEE Chamber of Commerce board.
Carlos Molnar, AIA — AIA Tampa Bay. Carlos served on the Joint Surfside Work Group and taught at the University of South Florida, helping shape the next generation of architects.
Lourdes Solera, FAIA — AIA Miami. Lourdes has served on City of Miami and Miami-Dade County historic preservation boards, been active with the Boy Scouts of America and served on the Board of Architecture and Interior Design.

Elizabeth Camargo, AIA. Camargo served on the Miami Beach Capital Improvement Projects Oversight Committee, Miami Beach Design Review Board, Bal Harbour Architectural Review Board and city workshops addressing sea level rise.
William Gallo, AIA. Gallo's extensive community service includes university, planning and zoning, civic and aviation organizations, including volunteer service as an Angel Flight pilot.
Brian Herbert, AIA. Herbert has served on the Deerfield Beach Community Appearance Board and participated in university, green building, design review, scouting, church and community organizations.
Maxim Nasab, AIA. Nasab has participated in community design charrettes, cultural facilities grant review, NCARB activities, Goodwood Museum & Gardens and Habitat for Humanity of the Big Bend.
