Inside Seaside: Lessons Learned and the Code that Started it All

The subject of intense media coverage—Time magazine said it “could be the most astounding design achievement of its era”—the community of Seaside, on Florida’s Panhandle, became both financially successful and the icon for a new way to design communities. Attorney Doris Goldstein, who has represented the developer of Seaside since 1986, offers an insider’s view of what the first New Urban community did right, what it did wrong, and how a one-page code revolutionized urban design.
