"Amendment 4 - Voter Referenda required for any Comprehensive Plan changes." A State Constitutional Amendment on the ballot for November 2, 2010.

On Wednesday, August 4 at 6:30pm, at Volunteer Park, Plantation, the American Institute of Architects, Fort Lauderdale Chapter will host speaker Ward Friszolowski, AIA, former Mayor of St. Pete Beach. St. Pete Beach is currently the only city in Florida to have adopted a version of Amendment 4. The passage of this bill has had devastating effects on the City of St. Pete Beach; Mr. Friszolowski has stated, "Our experiment with Amendment 4 has turned St. Pete Beach into a battleground for special interests. It has not resulted in wiser growth management - it has erased growth management altogether. It has not empowered ordinary citizens - it has empowered lawyers and those with the deepest pockets. And at a time of economic hardship, it has caused extraordinary damage to our economy."
