8:00-9:45 Advanced Accessibility Compliance - The Good, the Bad, the Ugly, or Why Did I Do THAT???
Presented by Larry Schneider. Course number 9877506
2 Hours, 2 CEU (Advanced Course)
This Advanced Building Code course addresses the specific requirements of the Florida
Accessibility Code for Building Construction- Chapter 11. The course will instruct attendants
in the common errors that have and are occurring in construction relating to accessibility
issues. There will be an update as to where the Federal Access Board and the Department
of Justice is with their requirements for accessibility. When the course has been completed,
attendants will have a better understanding of the applicable accessibility requirements and the
areas to be watchful of.

10:00-11:45 Advanced Fair Housing Act or The Seven Deadly Sins of FHA
Presented by Larry Schneider. Course number 9877899
2 Hours, 2 CEU (Advanced Course)
This Advanced Building Code course addresses the specific requirements of the Fair Housing
Act- accessible building entrance on an accessible route, accessible and usable public spaces,
usable doors, accessible route into and through the covered unit, light switches, electrical
outlets, thermostats and other environmental controls, reinforced walls for grab bars and
usable kitchens and bathrooms. When the course has been completed, attendants will have a
better understanding of the applicable accessibility requirements of the Fair Housing Act.

1:00-3:00 Structural Systems: A True Collaboration with Architecture
Presented by Bliss and Nyitray
2 Hours, 2 CEU
Whether it is maximizing the number of floors within height restrictions, creating
unobstructed, flexible places or minimizing construction times, architects are asked to solve
a variety of problems. Understanding the advantages and limitations of various structural
systems provides you with greater options in addressing these needs.

Cost: AIA members and FAMU Alumni: $60 prior to August 4th, $80 at the door
pending availability

 

All others: $120 prior to August 4th, $140 at the door pending availability
