What: This multi-media seminar clearly demonstrates how to use design options in the Florida Building Code to provide increased fire protection while controlling construction costs. They include actual cost studies between sprinklered and non-sprinklered buildings. 3 interactive workshops that include an actual design study for a 4 story office building. Seminars cover relevant sections of the Florida Building Code including: • Occupancy Classifications • Special Occupancies • Height and area calculations • Fire Resistive Construction • Fire Sprinkler Requirements • Exiting and means of egress Also includes the latest residential sprinkler requirements of the 2009 International Residential Codes.
SEMINAR LEARING OBJECTIVES: Upon completion of the seminar architects will be able to: • Determine the inadequacies of current basic building and fire code requirements • Provide increased fire protection without increasing construction costs • Use the Fire Sprinkler Guide to identify code requirements and design advantages • Understand the various types of sprinkler systems and where they are required • Have a broader range of material options

This book contains information on the 2003 and 2—6 IBC, the 2007 Florida and California State Building Codes, the 2006 NFPA 101 Life Safety Code and the 2003 NFPA Building Code Safety and Construction Code. It also contains design information on the various NFPA installation standards for sprinkler systems.
