Event Overview:

This April, meet Peter Gluck, David Zahle and Ned Kahn in an intimate conference setting and hear them describe their most compelling design projects.  Also, view some of Sarasota's iconic buildings from the comfort of an open air trolley, with commentary by Gene Leedy, AIA and Mark Smith, AIA.

 

 

Conference Schedule:

Thursday, April 22 

7.00 – 8.30 pm Opening Night Reception

Enjoy a relaxed Opening Night reception—free, with a cash bar---by the pool. Rub elbows with this year’s featured speakers from the US and Europe. Mingle with the winners and judges of the AIA Gulf Coast Chapter Design Awards and view their submissions.

Friday, April 23

7.30 – 8:30 Breakfast

Dig into a breakfast buffet then earn continuing education credits with the first lecture.

9.00 - 12.00 Session One: Peter Gluck, Gluck & Parnters

12.00 – 1.30 Lunch, Breakouts 1 + 2 (optional, limited seating)

Grab a free box lunch for break out sessions and return in the afternoon for the second lecture.

1.30 – 4.30 Session Two: Ned Kahn, Ned Kahn Studios

 4.30  – 7.30  Trade Show

After the lecture, meet industry representatives at the Trade Show, just steps away from the classroom area. Purchase a variety of architectural books, on display throughout the conference.

Saturday, April 24

7.30 – 8.30 Breakfast

Following a breakfast buffet, attend the third lecture.

9.00 – 12.00 Session Three: David Zahle, BIG

12.00 – 1.30 Lunch; Breakouts 3 + 4 (optional, limited seating)

Adjourn to break out sessions, with free box lunches provided.

1.30 – 4.30 Architectural Tour

In the afternoon, join the Sarasota Architectural Tour at the front of the hotel. View some of Sarasota School of Architecture’s iconic buildings from the comfort of an open trolley, with commentary by Carl Abbot, FAIA, Gene Leedy, FAIA, and Mark Smith, AIA. Refreshments provided.

5.00 – 8.00 Pool Party, Sponsored by Eco Technologies

Return in time to freshen up and attend the always-famous Pool Party. This year features an array of international selections, like exotic flat breads, Black Angus sliders prepared pool-side, and Asian, Mexican and seafood specialties.

Sunday, April 25

7.00 – 11.00 Fishing Tournament

For the adventurous, join our fishing expedition right from the hotels’ dock.  Our captain will bring us to some of the greatest fishing spots on Sarasota Bay, and we’ll win tournament prizes. Beverages provided.
