8:30 AM - 10:30 AM Advanced ASCE 7 - With Changes to the 2010 Edition
2 LU/HSW - 2 Advanced FBC Hours The next edition of ASCE 7 will include many significant technical and organizational changes to the wind load provisions from the 2005 Edition (ASCE 7-05). This course will cover the existing wind loading requirements in the 2007 Florida Building Code, Building and ASCE 7-05, in addition to addressing the significant changes in the wind load provisions of the 2010 Edition of ASCE 7 Minimum Design Loads for Buildings and Other Structures. The wind load provisions in ASCE 7-10 have undergone a substantial reorganization to improve the various design methods and procedures. These changes, along with many other technical changes will be covered in this course with additional discussion on the basis for making the changes. Speaker: Eric Stafford, PE, T. 10:45 AM - 12:45 PM Fire Safety Plans Review Process: Efforts to Provide Safe Environments
2 LU/HSW This class will concentrate on the guidelines and requirements contained in the Florida Fire Prevention Code, NFPA 1, Uniform Fire Code, NFPA 101, and Life Safety Code in regard to interior building functions and layout. Instruction objective will include information and guidance to assist in propagating a cooperative, logical development of construction documents and fire plans review process. Instructors are fire service professionals managing or involved in the plans review process within their given jurisdictions with many decades of combined experience. 1:30 PM - 3:30 PM Advanced Fair Housing Act OR the Seven Deadly Sins of the FHA
2 LU/HSW - 2 Advanced FBC Hours This Advanced Building Code course addresses the specific requirements of the Fair Housing Act. The course will instruct attendants in the specific requirements of the Act – accessible building entrance on an accessible route, accessible and usable public spaces, usable doors, and accessible route into and through the covered unit, light switches, electrical outlets, thermostats and other environmental controls, reinforced walls for grab bars and usable kitchens and bathroom.
