Advanced FBC: Masonry Code Changes and Masonry Best Practices

THIS IS AN ADVANCED COURSE
Description
This course informs the participant of the latest significant Masonry Code changes between the current 2008 code, the future 2011 code and the latest 2013 code and how to incorporate those changes in their specification. Nationally these strengths will be incorporated into the National Masonry Code for 2016, TMS 402/602 will also be reviewed.
Objective
1. Review ASTM standards for clay brick and understand the quality protections built into the ASTM standards for clay brick 2. What is the MSJC code, who is responsible for it and how does the FL Building Code reference it? 3. Learn how you can utilize the latest 2013 edition of the MSJC even though it is not the referenced standard in the 5th Edition Florida Building Code. 4. Learn what is the best method for material sampling and selection insuring the design intent of a project.
