Advanced FBC: A Walk Through the Code Changes from the FBC Fifth Edition (2014) to the FBC 6th Edition (2017) (FBC Course #: 843 AIA Course #: DL18WTCC)

This course will highlight the changes from the current FBC Fifth Edition (2014) to the new FBC 6th Edition (2017).


This will start with the method of how the Code is developed from the Base Code with discussion of the prior Florida Amendments that were removed and how some were re-adopted. The attendants will be shown that the Florida Amendments that sunset /re-proposed along with the new Code inherited from the Base Code. The objective is to make them aware of the changes to the new Sixth Edition. Mention will be made of the new process for the Seventh Edition.


Provide an understanding of how the current, new and future Florida Building Codes are developed.

Review by Chapter Code requirements that have been added and removed.

Understand how the Building Height and Area Chapter has been reorganized.

Provide confidence in using the Florida Building Code Sixth Edition (2017).
