AIA Florida Rule Challenge

Earlier this year, AIA Florida filed a petition on behalf of its members who would be affected by the Florida Building Commission’s (FBC) proposed rule changes to the Florida Building Code. AIA Florida leadership felt it was critical to issue a challenge to this ruling.

This issue is now before the First District Court of Appeals after AIA Florida filed an extensive brief with an administrative law judge who adopted the FBC’s position. A ruling is expected within the next six months.

This has far-ranging impact beyond Florida. This is a fight for whether there will be a valid international code, or, in the future, individual states such as Florida can be left isolated with outdated code.

For those wishing to support the rule change by helping to offset legal fees, donations can be made here
