Program Description: Join NCARB IDP Manager Martin Smith, AIA for a presentation about your career in architecture, licensure and beyond. Mr. Smith currently serves as a Manager of the Intern Development Program for NCARB in Washington, D.C. This program is beneficial to any individual involved in the IDP/ ARE process – so whether you are a Student, Intern, Supervisor, or a Mentor you are encouraged to attend this event to learn about the latest developments and the future of the licensure process directly from NCARB.
Topics will include:
•Recent changes to the Intern Development Program (IDP) •How to progress successfully through the Intern Development Program (IDP) •The latest developments in the Architect Registration Examination (ARE) •The value of licensure and NCARB certification •Tips for making a successful transition to licensure •A look ahead at what is on the horizon for the IDP and ARE While walk-ins are welcome, we encourage you to RSVP and list event title on subject line to rsvp@aiaorlando.com. About the Presenter: Martin Smith’s position with NCARB supports and guides the IDP program as it continues to evolve with the architecture profession. In his current role with NCARB, Smith visits AIA Chapters and NAAB accredited universities throughout the United States to give recent graduates and students an overview of the latest developments in the IDP/ ARE programs, obtain input directly from individuals seeking to obtain licensure, and provide a glimpse into the future of the licensure process.
Smith has 10 years of architectural design and construction management experience. He has worked for architectural firms in New York City and New Canaan, CT. His projects varied from single and multi-family residential projects to commercial and university buildings, with an expertise in adaptive re-use and historic preservation projects. Smith holds a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Syracuse University in Syracuse, NY. He is licensed to practice architecture in the state of New York. He is a member of the American Institute of Architects, has achieved the qualification of LEED Green Associate, and holds the NCARB Certificate for national reciprocity.
