The class provides a general overview of electronic access control systems and important effects of new technology such as Smart Cards, The Cloud, Near Field Communications and environmental systems integration

 Learning Objectives: 


Provides a basic overview of access control systems, hardware, local software and communications, simple system operation

Provides an understanding of benefits and applications of access control systems interfaced with environmental systems to reduce facility operating cost

Provides an awareness of the benefits and applications of smart cards credentials used in access control security systems to increase security and information

Provides an insight to the “Cloud” benefits and affect on the full range of access control systems, “Managed Access” increasing term long term value and usability

Provides an explanation of how the upcoming Near Field Communications (NFC) technology will potentially effect access control system credentials in the future assist user in opening doors
