2013 AIA National President Mickey Jacob will speak on LEADERSHIP FOR OUR FUTURE – FROM LOCAL COMPONENT TO AIA NATIONAL, WHY ITS UP TO YOU TO MAKE A DIFFERENCE
He will touch on the Repositioning efforts, your role as respected leaders and your responsibilities to continue to build our leadership network to increase the public awareness of what we do and to build the foundation for a prosperous future for the profession as Citizen Architects.
• Explore the definition of Leadership and its importance in all areas of life and what it means to be a Citizen Architect
• Investigate 4 elements of leadership and how they can be effective in practice
• Identify great leaders and their impact on the world – and in your community
• Understand how opportunities for leadership can enhance and improve your career path
• Describe tools for personal leadership growth and development
• Understand the AIA National strategy on leadership in design, knowledge, development of emerging professionals, sustainability/ technology, and component relations
• Illustrate examples of leadership opportunities for architects within the profession and the community
• Demonstrate how Leadership, Advocacy and Communication techniques will support the new community outreach and public awareness strategy for the importance of design
• Provide an overview of life as AIA President
